A lot can happen in a year.
A year ago, I was a new college graduate thrown into the journalism world in what I thought was my dream job. I spent my non-work hours in a wine therapy with friends, trying to comprehend what the point was of getting the job to make money to pay for the school I attended to get the job to make money to pay for the school I attended…you get the point.
A year ago, I signed up for yoga at Body Balance in Williamsburg, VA as a way to get out of getting stuck in traffic for an hour. I was commuting during a beast of a summer in a tourist town, and I couldn’t stand it. Injuries had prevented me from running regularly, so I thought, “I’ve always wanted to get serious about yoga, here’s my chance.”
Little did I know – like nearly everyone who comes to their mat – it would end up changing, and, without sounding too dramatic, saving my life.
Now, one year, one move, one heartbreak and one job later, I’ve decided to earn my teacher certification at Hot or Not Yoga and Massage Studio in Newport News, VA. This is the obvious next step for me, the natural progression of my practice. Eventually, I would like to teach, and perhaps one day open my own yoga studio.
While on my journey towards becoming a certified yoga teacher, I need you guys to hold me accountable as I attempt to capture and hold your attention with my babbling about chakras and sutras.
I need you to celebrate life with me by showing gratitude and love every day.
I need you to be patient with me.
I need you to support me. Encourage me when I’m struggling with a pose. Hear me out as I attempt to find myself spiritually. Comfort me when I’m close to my breaking point.
I need you to push me. To master that headstand. To practice non-judgement. To make time for love.
I need you to tell me about your passions. Tell me what makes you tick. Tell me all the things you’ve discovered about yourself.
I'll be out of commission during the following days, from 8 a.m. - 8 p.m. Saturdays and 8 a.m. - 6 p.m. Sundays:
